All rights reserved. For smaller developers, this offers the chance to reach a new audience, making the release on Switch worth the expense of porting. While it seems like a no-brainer for higher-profile indie titles to jump to the Switch, it's a strange situation in Torchlight 2's case. As a dungeon crawler, Torchlight 2 is best played with friends, but portability limits the possibility of online play.

It's also difficult to tell if Torchlight 2 is available for cross-play, which may limit player pools depending on which version is bought.

However, players can also team up in local multiplayer on the Switch, alleviating the need for a constant online connection. Also, with the success of Diablo 3 on the Switch , it only seems natural that Torchlight 2 also takes a shot on the portable console.

The entire campaign can also be played solo, even if in general teaming up to take down mobs of enemies for bucketloads of loot is more enjoyable. I would love a copy of the game on my shelf. Is it going to be remastered for PC and allow cross-play together with PS4 users? That would be so amazing to revive it on PC!

I know this is going to sound crazy but I have strong memories of playing the first Torchlight on PC sometime between and I remember first playing the game at demo booth where a bunch of PC games were being shown off at the mall and purchasing the game on CD-Rom not long after.

Actually turns out my dates were a bit off and it was actually Fate I had played and not torchlight. Considering both Runic Games and the parent company Perfect World were not founded yet. Perfect World founded in and Runic Games in The developers that created Torchlight were at the time employed by Blizzard developing Diablo 2.

I highly doubt you played Torchlight before Diablo 2 even released. You are probably getting Diablo 1 and Torchlight confused, which can be an understandable mistake considering Torchlight was basically the successor to Fate and Diablo 2. Torchlight developers used portions of Diablo coding, sounds, mechanics in Torchlight.
