Paul's runner Brendan hopes to get out of jail in time for the wedding of his daughter, Aisling. Harriet begins dating Ian, and Kim is distraught when her husband, Mick, is charged with sexual assault of a minor.
Episode 2. Kim looks for evidence to prove Mick's innocence, while Francesca starts a car-cleaning business as a front to Paul's illegal activities, despite DCI Fontaine's ongoing investigation into Chris's death.
Aisling rekindles her friendship with Francesca's son, Matt, and Harriet invites Ian over for a romantic dinner. Episode 3. Frank confronts Francesca about the passports and visits Paul in prison for the first time.
Mick learns of Kim's affair, and Kim struggles to control the children when they start acting out. Episode 4. Francesca is released on bail, but DCI Fontaine warns her that her family could be in danger. Gavin is charged for attacking Ian, and Harriet must make a difficult decision. Mick has mixed feelings about returning home, while Aisling pursues a relationship with Matt.
And Aisling is exasperated that her repeat offender dad is back inside. But with her community living in fear of her ASBO neighbours and suspicious of any man accused of child abuse, no one seems willing to help her. Harriet tries to take her relationship with prison chaplain Ian to another level, but with affairs of the heart occupying her, she takes her eye off troubled son Gavin. Francesca is determined to focus on her fractured family.
Meanwhile, Aisling has to deal with the devastating news that her father is dying. Error: please try again. Francesca and her father and children are caught up in a turf war when Paul's rival torches Frank's house.
Worse is to come when,on 'business' for Paul,Francesca witnesses a gangland killing. One of Paul's runners,ageing career criminal Brendan,is also imprisoned,antagonizing daughter Aisling who wants him to give her away at her up-coming S2, Ep2. Kim is asked by Mick's lawyer to gather proof of his innocence but a possible witness is not keen to speak to police for fear of reprisal whilst Kim is questioned after trying to talk to Jaiden. Her best bet is Mick's friend Danny, a prosecution witness with whom she had a fling and who suggests that if this comes out in court it may discredit him,rather than change his story.
Ian prevents Gavin from converting but Harriet is concerned her son is selling the presents he asks her to bring in in order to buy friends. Harriet and Ian have a romantic dinner with him S2, Ep3. Frank confronts Francesca over her criminal activities before somehow getting to see Paul without a visiting order and demanding hush money. Paul is more concerned with Matt's drug-dealing,berating him for neglecting his school studies.
Francesca,however,does not condemn the dealing though she is unaware that DCI Fontaine is watching him and has pulled in one of Francesca's associates regarding the murder of rival gangster Paul.
